Bluetooth Low Energy Module

Bluetooth low energy module was first introduced by Nokia in 2006. It was named as Wibree initially. In 2010, Bluetooth low energy technology was merged into the standard Bluetooth technology due to its regular and consistent integration in the latest Bluetooth enabled devices. In 2011, the Bluetooth low energy module was named as Bluetooth SMART.

Bluetooth low energy module that works on Bluetooth low energy technology is not compatible with the older version of Bluetooth that consumed more power as compared to the Bluetooth low energy module. The older version of Bluetooth technology was called Bluetooth classic.

Bluetooth low energy module is nowadays used by almost all Bluetooth enabled devices because of the Bluetooth low energy technology that allows the devices to consume less power while using the Bluetooth media for information transfer.
