Human Factors

Wireless Integrated offers a wide range of human factors engineering services to enhance the usability of devices or software. Throughout the development process, a human factors engineer can contribute to the user interface design based on inputs from representative users. These inputs can guide design decisions such as button layouts, display selections, and feature operations to generate an interface that is intuitive and easy to use.

User and task analyses
Important user characteristics and expectations can be identified, along with key tasks to be supported by the device or software.

User interface requirements development
Requirements of end users can be documented early in the design process and used to guide specification of the user interface.

User interface design
Alternatives for user inputs (pressing a button, moving a switch, etc.) and system displays (LEDs, screen messages, etc.) can be evaluated to select the options that best meet user needs.

User interface simulation
Early simulation of the user interface, using computer software or a physical prototype, allows refinement of the user interface before significant development effort is expended.

Usability testing
Observations of representative users interacting with a simulation or prototype can reveal whether the user interface is intuitive and easy to use or needs to be modified.

Expert evaluations
An evaluation focused on the user interface by a person with extensive user-centered design experience can often reveal potential usability issues that can be addressed in subsequent development activities.

Subjective audio quality testing
For devices that involve transmission or generation of speech signals, it is often important to obtain subjective ratings of speech quality to determine user acceptance of the device in the field.

Field trials
Collection of feedback from users who interact with a device in their own home or work environment can reveal usability issues that are missed in laboratory tests.

End user documentation
Principles of user interface design for devices can also be applied to the documentation provided with the device.


Testing

Wireless Integrated offers a wide range of testing services to assure product quality. Wireless Integrated Test Process is flexible to meet the test requirements of stringently regulated products (such as medical device testing) as well as the requirements of less regulated products (such as consumer electronic device testing). Services include development of test plans, software unit and integration testing, functional testing, design verification and validation testing. Our expertise includes testing in a variety of product categories; including FDA regulated medical devices, communications products, military electronics, and PC peripherals.

We have an on-site RF screen room and other specialized equipment that allow us to provide EMC, ESD, and environmental testing. We can also provide UL and FCC prescreening for your product to eliminate surprises during compliance testing. When your design is ready, we can coordinate all of the necessary compliance testing.
